Brad nails, or brads, are made of 18-gauge steel wire. Because of their small diameter, brad nails are easy to hammer into wood siding or panels.
They are not only thinner than normal nails, but also have a smaller head.
The slim profile of brad nails helps prevent delicate material from splitting.
